Mormonism and Eternal Truth

Holy Bible

Truth is not only
violated by falsehood;
it may be equally
outraged by silence.
(Henri-Frederic Amiel)

Joseph Smith maintained that the early Christian church had gone into total apostasy. Upon this claim, he founded the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (known as the LDS), in 1830. His followers have been nicknamed Mormons because of their belief in his Book of Mormon, which he declared to be the most “correct” book on earth. Their other exclusive scriptures are Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price. Although they do use the King James version of the Bible, they believe that it has been corrupted due to incorrect translation and that important sections have been removed. They are taught that personal salvation is only possible through their church. Because their system of indoctrination is both thorough and effective, it is extremely difficult to overcome.

They worship an exclusively Mormon God who leads a married life, has a body of flesh and bone, and was once a mortal man. The main doctrine on which all their teachings rest is eternal progression. Because theirs is an evolving religion, their doctrines change from time to time. So articles and books (including their own doctrinal books) that are not fairly recent, may no longer be relevant.

The articles listed in the index below discuss how LDS doctrines deviate from what the Bible teaches. Clear, in-depth explanations reveal how far Mormonism has strayed from Christianity as taught and practised by the primitive church of Jesus Christ.

It is the heartfelt prayer of the editor, who is an ex-Mormon, that through exposure to the truth others will also be enabled to find their way out of the maze of deception upon which Mormonism has been founded.
